Not seeing a lot of improvement on the pastern laceration that came from a rope or cable being tangled around the rescue mare's leg for several days before we found her.
My grandma used powdered sugar for proud flesh. We would soak off the scab and clean everything up really well then grab some powered sugar and just pack in on the wound. He healed up quite nicely without proud flesh.
There is a powder that my vet gave me that basically melts it off. What you have is a healed wound that needs the proud flesh removed your vet should be able to remove it or suggest something to help clear it up. Here is a website I found by a simple search on how to remove proud flesh. Hope this helps :)
Found the stuff my Vet suggested it's called Wonder Dust. I had a mare with a puncture she ended up with a huge infection in her Joint. He cut off the proud flesh flushed the joint and we cleaned it for months before we saw signs of improvement however the proud flesh returned. He gave us wonder dust told us to mix it in with Fura Zone and like magic the proud flesh melted away and the wound started to heal soon the only way you could tell she had a puncture was the irregular shape to her leg due to the fusion of one of her joints. She was sound healthy and happy for years. Good Luck!
My vet makes a mixture of meat tenderizer and something else... I wish I knew what. I had a rescue with a similar wound from wire- It's just a thin scar now.
